Installing GSD in STEP7 V5. X
Open STEP7 software, click the configured s7cpu site, and double-click to open "hardware"
Click menu bar - Options - install GSD file
Click Browse. Find the folder where the GSD file is located in the browse page.
Select the installation file and click Install.
After installation, search for additional file devices on the right side of hardware configuration -- PROFIBUS DP or PROFINET IO --- additional file devices according to the selected DP or PN bus.

In TIA software, the GSD file is imported by using the "manage GSD" command under the "options" menu
Select the file to be saved in "GSL" and then select the file to be saved in "GSL".

GSD files can be multilingual to support different languages. Replace the last letter of the "GSD" file name extension with a language recognition letter.
The file extension GSD indicates that the file is a standard file, the extension GSG indicates that the file is German, GSE is English, GSF is French, GSI is Italian, GSS is Spanish, GSDML is PROFINET device description file written in XML format.
